Can Journaling Boost Motivation

When I was young, I did not understand the meaning of the word- procrastinator. I certainly never thought I was one. But I always felt there is time to do a task ‘later’ or ‘tomorrow’. As time went by, I realized my list of to-do things was getting longer, till it seemed unreachable.

I am not a lazy person. In fact, I take pride in the fact that I can work hard and do a job well. But how do I ignore all the little things I wanted to do and never got around to doing. For example:  learning a new language, running a marathon, doing yoga, volunteering etc.

After realizing I do not want this unfinished list to be my legacy, I started finding a way to rectify this issue. This journey led me to the discovery of the benefits of journaling. Journaling has given me the ability to learn about my time management style, my motivation, and my habits. I still have a long to-do list but it’s getting shorter as I’m getting older. And I silently thank the tool of journaling.

Today, I’d like to share what benefits I’ve achieved from using the Motiv8 app to do the same.

I used the journaling feature in Motiv8 app to write my goals. Writing down goals allowed me to articulate and clarify what I wanted to achieve. This clarity provides a strong foundation for motivation.  Motiv8 prompts encouraged goal setting and gave me tips on goal-setting strategies.

Motiv8 app allowed me to break my goals down into smaller, manageable tasks. The prompts in the app helped me set specific and achievable goals. Breaking big tasks into smaller, actionable tasks made them less overwhelming and increased my motivation to act.

I used Motiv8 app tips to create a focused work environment and manage digital distractions. The app also provided time management strategies such as the Pomodoro technique, time blocking, or prioritizing tasks. I learnt tips on how to focus on one task at a time and the benefits of single-tasking.

I also journaled in detail what success looks like and how it feels. This helped create a sense of motivation and excitement.

Remember, journaling is a personal practice, and there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Find a journaling style that works for you, whether it’s writing free-flowing thoughts, using prompts, or incorporating sketches and visual elements. Experiment and adapt your journaling practice to suit your needs and preferences
